Ubuntu (Humanity to Others)
Ubuntu (Humanity to Others)
One held a competition for African tribal boys.
He filled a basket full of fruits and placed it under a tree.
He made the boys line up a hundred meters away from the tree.
He announced that whoever touched the tree first would be gifted with the entire basket of fruit.
He kept the boys ready and blew the whistle.
Do you know what those boys did then? They all ran together holding each other's hands and reached the tree and began to share the fruits and eat them.
He looked at them in wonder why did you do that? he asked.
They all chanted 'Ubuntu' in unison.
It means 'How can one be happy when others are sad? Ubuntu' means 'if I; It's not me! We are!! (I AM BECAUSE, WE ARE) We must learn from those African children.
